Zamioculcas, A necessity For All Families

Zamioculcas is a evergreen perennial herb, belonging to the araceae colocasia family. As a rare underground tuberous foliage plant, it’s native to tropical Africa. It has no main stem above the ground. Adventitious buds sprout from tubers and then grow to be the compound leaves. Zamioculcas likes the sunshine. It has strong shade tolerance, too. It can not be exposed to the direct sunlight. The too dark environment can easily cause the new buds to be long and thin with the yellow color and the sparse space between lobes. The ideal growing temperature is between 20 and 30¡æ. When the room temperature is above 33¡æ, water once every day and spout water in the surrounding environment to reduce temperature. The room temperature in winter should be no less than 10¡æ.

Light
Zamioculcas likes the sunshine. It has strong shade tolerance, too. Thus, a sunny environment with certain shade is necessary. It can not be exposed to the direct sunlight, especially the hot sun after many rainy days during late spring and early summer.

Moisture
A slightly moist environment should be created to grow Zamioculcas. If growing it on the balcony above the 3rd floor of a building, put the pot plant on the wet sand table, water the leaves to clean the dust on the surface and create shade for it.

Humidity
The ideal growing temperature is between 20 and 30¡æ. Keep the room temperature above 10¡æ in winter. It can not survive at the room temperature of less than 5¡æ.

Trimming
Just trim it simply by cutting off the withered leaves and the edge of leaves. In addition, trim off the withered and yellowing old leaves in time, in order to reduce nutrient consumption.
